However, the so-called solutions I see coming from the left are suggestions to just ramp up a bunch of spending on all of those issues to the tune of $3-4 trillion more per year. So I keep asking a simple question: how do we pay for it? The Democrats will tell you that we should just print more money. But printing money is how you get Weimar and Zimbabwe like inflation. That's just childish thinking. The other option is to take on more debt as we allow massive deficits. Well, this also will reach a breaking point. The final option is to simply raise taxes and I mean double or triple them. Some will point out that we could cut back on the military and I'm actually all for that. I don't think we need to spend $1 trillion per year to be safe. But even if we cut the military back by 50%, that won't pay for all the free stuff the Democrats want to give to everyone. Then there's another simple fact that the Democrats ignore. Our government is ridiculously inefficient. They audited the Pentagon and Medicare recently and both had hundreds of millions of dollars, if not billions in waste and fraud. So we want to give more money to entities run by people who have no incentive to run them efficiently? That doesn't sound like common sense to me. The only system that has provided the broadest prosperity and lifted the most people out of poverty in the history of mankind if capitalism. To the extent that China has lifted it's hundreds of millions out of poverty, they did it by introducing free market reforms. So why would we Socialize, or in other words, nationalize and let the government run even larger parts of our economy, when they are simply so bad at doing that? If you one really cares for reducing the rich/poor divide, then we must look at what the Fed is doing. They are the ones who give access to cheap money to the rich people, while destroying the wealth of the 99%. This is one of the major root causes of what we're seeing today. It encourages and enables corruption. Then the Citizens United Act is one that encourages corruption in election processes. Lobbying encourages ongoing corruption in Congress. The whole system is corrupt and rigged in favor of the wealthy. Socialism has a history of dramatically increasing corruption, not reducing it. So anything that gives more power to the government should be opposed, not encouraged.
