Certainly the more we learn about CCPs surveillance, social controls, restricted travel etc., the more the threat seems likely. Especially when you have a CCP official commenting what’s the fuss about, Hong Kong reverts to China in a few years anyway- or words to that effect. My hope is that Hong Kong retains its freedom and separation from China and the CCP and thrives as before. But it may prove to be a daunting task judging by CCPs attitudes towards Taiwan which undoubtedly has more of a claim on freedom. Your attitude appears to be one of laissez faire which is surprising given the stakes and your families history with doctoral governments. R.
