An interesting note about IONA:

iona.com

There is some danger of a takeover, as Iona's technology is potentially worth a good deal more than its market valuation

One would reasonably assume the same for VSGN. BORL is getting VSGN's ORB technology that I believe will prove to be far more valuable than the market value of VSGN, a first rate VP of Engineering, some very talented engineers, and a sales and support staff that have good enterprise knowledge. VSGN employees get to continue working for an aggressive small company with lots of room to grow. i.e. Their options still have tremendous potential. When you get bought by a big company, you typically lose any future potential to your options. You just wait for them to vest, and get the money. Engineers in this situation would be ripe for leaving (often out here, prospective employers wil buy out their unvested options).
