I hope so, but our most highly educated generation, the Millennials, are stupefyingly ignorant of history. They are so certain of their own intelligence, that they have become very arrogant and refuse to listen to people who actually have first hand knowledge about these things. There is some quote about how clever people can be identified by the answers they give, but wise people can be identified by the questions they ask. Millennials may be clever, but they are not wise. Older folks like us have been derelict in our duty to teach the young. We've ceded our responsibility and the young people have pushed us aside, refusing to learn from our wisdom. Being old in this country has become a crime. Zuckerberg summarized the attitudes of the young best when he said, "Young people are smarter." What an incredibly stupid thing to say. There's another quote that says something like, "It's better to remain silent and to be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt." The Millennials would do well to absorb that lesson. AOC chief among them.
