Southwest design is really beautiful when it is done with authentic Indian and old west artifacts, relics and paintings, as it is in my dentist's office. I do not like southwest design when it is transferred into hackneyed, pale paper towel patterns and stuff like that, though. He seems to be mostly a society dentist--even the small children who come to get their teeth cleaned are wearing the uniforms of exclusive private schools. I at least put on clean jeans and spot-stain my t-shirt before I go there, and I make Briana comb her hair!!

The dentist's brother is also a dentist. He is the one who met our family at eight in the evening on Christmas eve eve, foregoing a family dinner party, to slap some composite material on my just broken crown so that I did not look like a homeless woman with only a tooth stub during the holidays. This is the evening Briana served as his assistant. I guess he really bonded to me then. He was apparently just overcome by emotion in the hallway yesterday, and threw his arms around me!!! OR, he was so happy to see that I have a real, albeit temporary, crown on the tooth now that he knows he will never again have to spend one of his evenings on call at his office with that very strange Bartley family when he could be partying!! Who knows?
