The solution I found to the "house burning down problem" was not to store gasoline in the basement. I dug a remote trench for it with a locked hatch on top. . It wasnt that hard to figure out. The issue raised by WR was that the power cuts effected gasoline cars as much as electric cars. I guess both types of cars can be fixed with a generator, but power cuts are easier with gasoline cars and less generators are needed.
