Got this off the Yahoo thread. Looks like SES approval for a buyback is virtually certain this year. Better late than never I guess.

Here are a couple of highlights:

Strength of exports will offset weaker consumer demand

SINGAPORE will not slip into a recession because the continued strength of its exports will offset weaker consumer demand, says Goldman Sachs.

"It feels like a recession . . . (but) growth will not be negative though we will see slower growth for a sustained longer period," Ang Lay Pheng, a strategy analyst at Goldman Sachs, said yesterday at an investment seminar.

During the year, two main themes will emerge in the stock market -- share buybacks and financial deregulation, Ms Ang said.

She named Singapore Airlines, Singapore Press Holdings, Singapore Telecom and Creative Technology as likely candidates for share buybacks. Her top three stock picks currently are Creative Tech, Parkway Holdings and Want Want Holdings.
