Why education is essential: There are two kinds of kindness and empathy, the concrete kind that all animals seem to share, and abstract kindness which only humans have. So in order to achieve a truly humane society people have to understand abstract kindness. So what might that abstract kindness be, one might ask-lol? As mentioned,realizing e.g., all killers have problems and society should separate them, but not torture or kill them. To realize revenge is nonsense. Understanding things like slavery, segregation, homophobia and racism and sexism are bad. Our founding fathers mostly all had slaves. Washington had about 400 slaves!! So even they did not understand slavery and they were the best we humans had at the time. And we only got rid of sexism and racism 50 years ago and homophobia, last week-lol! We are still needing more education.
