Those are two different things. Apples and oranges. Yes big wars last century, but today the idea of one European country invading another is not even a worry. That is due to our increased ability to think. Education. let's go back and look at the fact most of our founding fathers had slaves. Washington had about 400 slaves, 50 of them were rented (good god). And his wife bought him a slave for his birthday. And those folks were among the most intelligent people on the planet at that time. So what that tells us, is even the best and brightest human beings of that day could not even wrap their mind around something as simple as knowing that slavery was not something that is ever acceptable. As James Flynn points out, people back then were operating at about a 70 IQ and were concrete thinkers. So ideas like slavery, racism, sexism and homophobia were simply too difficult for them to understand. As we humans (collectively) got more educated what did we see? Country after country outlawed slavery and country after county started improving their republics/democracies. But issues like misogyny and racism were still too abstract for most people to understand and it would be another 70 years before women even got the vote and 100 years to end institutional racism. And if we look at the march of time (education) we see around the world people and countries getting rid of misogyny (sexism), racism, and last homophobia as we move closer to today. Today, the people in every society on earth are hitting misogyny, racism, homophobia and caste systems very hard. All one has to do is watch foreign films to see how hard the writers and directors are addressing those subjects in their films, in every country. <<Can you not see how much kinder we are today than even 100 years ago and certainly 200 years ago when slavery was common place? That's debatable - between 80-100 million people were killed in wars last century, we now can end all human life on earth with nuclear winter & technological advances are continually re-purposed into controlling or killing human beings. We develop biological weapons that could kill millions. All in all, not very nice.
