My Internet is wired because my computers are desktops.

I am guessing most desktops sold today have a wireless option. With 5G coming maybe wired will be the option in the future.

That's what I do. Wired for my desktop machine and anything else when possible, wireless for devices where that make sense, like my laptop.

I sometimes have to turn on wireless on my iMac if I want to use something like AirDrop to share files between it and the laptop, but it's not often. The other reason is for wireless surveys of other networks in my building, though I sometimes use the laptop for that too.

I do the same with my desktops, when we built our home I specifically requested at least two ports to most rooms of the home. I have my trading machine, laser printer, and two TV's plugged in using ethernet. My wife does her stuff via laptop and she uses wireless 100%. When I'm off the desktop I'm also wireless via a laptop and iPad. Funny thing, ever since we joined the 21st century with a large screen 4k TV, I find myself watching stuff on the internet and YouTube on it more and more. My TV remote has voice control and it seems to work pretty well when searching for stuff on YouTube for example. Beats the 'enter in a letter at a time' on the screen displayed keyboard.

I run laptops wired. The router is in my home office. I have a server, 2 desktops and usually 2 laptops, all using wired connections. I ran an ethernet cable up to where my wife uses her laptop.
