Far be it from me to ever display any negative sentiments, but once everyone who lived through WWII is dead, it wouldn't be a shocker to see them repeat their follies, particularly when they will likely be overrun with climate refugees. Kindness is a very transient state where humans are concerned.

Is the world getting better or worse? Steven Pinker who wrote:" The Nature Of Our Better Angles" presents a case that this is the most peaceful time in history. Below I have posted a TED talk to that subject.

Koan, that is absurd. The first half of the 20th century was the bloodiest half century in recorded history. Humans didn't suddenly become "kind" after that bloodbath. Europeans desperately wanted to try to avoid a recurrence of it. So they set up the EU in order create interconnections between the countries so that everyone would have a vested interest in not invading anyone else. It has nothing to do with "kindness", it has everything to do with self interest and economics.
