Well said.

<<LOL- you need to raise one. They are completely narcissistic little pods. And just like baby birds, they'd happily push a sibling out of the nest to get what they want- or just to perform an "experiment". They don't understand anything but their own needs for quite a while. You have to teach them empathy- that's not a natural state. Humans are animals- and we all know what animals are capable of. This doesn't make them "bad"- it's just obvious that the "natural" state of animals, including humans, does not include kindness- except when it's functional (like treating your offspring well so your genes prosper). Kindness is the outgrowth of training - and with the luxury of surplus in our environment we can afford to teach kindness (though clearly no everyone is hopping aboard that train.)

Did you ever hear a vet say dogs should never sleep with you in bed? He'll think you're equals and not his master.

It's the same with kids. The moment an adult screams, you're his equal. The moment an adult hits a child, you're his equal. Children scream and hit. Adults don't.

I've literally taken kids who are out of control and with a gentle hand movement gotten them to stop doing what they're doing. Act like an adult and they learn very quickly.

Btw, I taught my brother to count to 200 before he was four and read every road sign by five. I questioned him and suggested he was wrong and he told me why he was right. Kids can learn deductive and inductive reasoning long before they go to school, if they have a teacher.

If a four-year-old isn't speaking nearly perfect English, his parents are failing him.

And when a kid really gets out of control, go for a long walk, or biking or ice skating or.....
