Your Echo can also be connected via Bluetooth, if you have it near a PC and are paranoid about security. I found using a dedicated Wifi network for devices is best.

BTW, I am so miffed with Amazon over Alexa that you have no idea. I just spent an hour and half with Alexa support just to explain a simple concept of what they messed up and now they are supposed to have escalated it to a 2nd line of support.

Long story short, when I got my devices, I got grandfathered to be able to upload my music to Amazon and manage the playlists and stuff myself. This is important to me b/c (1) I have an eclectic taste and much of what I listen to is not readily available as a streaming service. And (2) since I have the music already, I don't see why I should pay for streaming service.

Well, Amazon has not "cancelled" my service, but they've "updated" their apps and backend engine to make it unusable. :((
