Bernie was an admirer of the Soviet Union and even spent his honeymoon there. He called for the US to take on some of the "strengths" of the Soviets. So yes, he is more or less a modern day commie.

He is a communist by his own admission a few decades ago. Then he turned himself into a Socialist to make it more palatable to the modern day voters. Either way, a tiger doesn't change his stripes and neither does Bernie.
