Some apps have made great strides in competing with Photoshop, namely Affinity Photo.

With word that Adobe is beginning to lock out older versions of their CS Suite by disabling the serial number activation servers that determine you have a legal copy, it's only a matter of time before they try to force everyone into their subscription software model.

I will never be beholden to subscription software, and Adobe's tactics really sour me on using anything they produce.

I'm sure once people get used to using a programs like Affinity's offerings or someone else's, they become as indispensable as Photoshop is to you.

My only worry is that if Affinity's products become successful enough, Adobe will simply buy them and kill the product. With any luck, U.S. antitrust regulators won't let that happen.
