The problem with nuclear, is that the scientists who advertised to the public lied. That was the problem. When quoting statistics that there would not be an accident in thousands of years, they made the very obvious blunder that such a thing as an interaction event could never occur..

They also assumed that human beings were not corrupt. Slipped up there.

There is a case for nuclear... especially if we are going to get our asses fried by CO2, but some hard lessons need to be learned... Bullchitting the public is not a good idea, and informed judgments need to be made. The "mushroom" approach... keeping people in the dark and showering them with manure is not going to be successful.
