Ken -

I have just gotten out of bed, being unable to sleep anymore. It's not just the conference call. I also have rather bad tendonitis in both shoulders.

While you are thinking about the tone of your posts, I have been lying there thinking about the content of mine. I definitely have an Iomega Defense Syndrome. When I see negative stuff being posted about Iomega, I have a strong desire to "correct" it.

I have decided that, while I do believe your interpretation of Iomega's situation is too negative, mine swayed to too postive last night. I don't agree with your assessment completely, but I do see that you have some valid points.

At this point, I am thinking a few things in particular.

I can't see how anything in that conference call is going to move this stock up. Not that there are no positives, because there are, (positive cash flow, tremendous growth) but because there was nothing that indicated the future was assured. It is true that Iomega relied mostly on Zip for earnings this past quarter, more so than in previous quarters even. True, they have had product delays which cost them in Q4, especially Jaz2, and probably these new products will ship, but I am going to use Kim Edward's own words for guidance about this.

When asked how much of the lost Q4 revenue he thought would be recoverable in Q1, he said that, and I'm paraphrasing, none of the Asian revenue probably would. As for Jaz2 revs being recoverable, he said that we had to look at the fact that it is now Jan. 22nd, and the product is still not shipping. So that part of the quarter is already over.

KE did say that going forward, he didn't feel the company would be hurt by Asia, because they don't get a very large portion of revenue from there anyway, which he said was both a positive and a negative. He said he views the Asian situation like this: It just means that Asia will not be a significant growth opportunity in 98, but that since they recognize that fact now, they can divert resources which would have gone toward building the Asian business to other areas that will give the company a better return on investment.

Clik! may not be the failure some have already proclaimed it to be, but according to what I heard in the cc, while we may see the stand-alone version early in the second half, we won't see OEM products until very late in the year.

Anyway, I don't see Wall Street analysts viewing this cc as full of promise, and thus I don't expect to see significant upward price movement until and unless we see a very strong Q1 report. I really hate being back in the "wait til next quarter" camp. It's bad enough being a Jets fan.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
