I just watched a 13 minute link I found from the one you just posted. It defended the laugh track in a way that made sense. The argument is that shows without the track did not fare as well as those with a track. The argument went on to conclude, when properly and more correctly used, the laugh track actually makes the show more enjoyable to the viewer. I'd say that's one of the reasons Seinfeld worked so well. Many of the newer shows use the track in moderation and at more appropriate times, making is seem considerably more natural.

I'd go along with that
