Yes that is correct and this is almost anchient history now but the night before (last Friday I believe) the spread was very wide so the fact that it closed at a certain price on Tuesday which was only an increase of 3/16 was a bit misleading. I believe that on Friday it was 19 3/4 asked 19 1/4 bid or perhaps 19 3/8 bid. For my own purposes I look at the change in the bid and asked prices not just the change in price.

The fact that the last sale one day may be at the asked price versus the last sale the previous day being at the bid price often distorts what is happening particularly when there are large spreads. I mentioned in my post that the bid price on Tuesday actually increased by 3/8 whereas the reported change in price increased by only 3/16 if I recall. I think it is important to understand what really happens each day and just looking at the last reported price sometimes overlooks a more important change which is revealed by looking at the changes in bid, asked and spread. That is all I had in mind.
