11/1/2019 Contest update
It was a bigly Halloween week for biotechs with more treats than tricks for the sector. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 16.05% YTD (vs. up 10.47% a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 13.31% YTD (vs. up 8.91% a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 16.13% YTD (vs. up 12.89% a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 26.39% YTD (vs. up 24.93% YTD a week ago).
Multiple efforts to impeach BULBA’s portfolio failed and it held on to first place with a 71.34% YTD gain. On BULBA’s tail are OHMS’s portfolio, up 68.47% YTD, now in second place and HOOD’s portfolio, up 65.47% YTD, in third place.
At Friday's close, 30 of the 39 Contest portfolios were in the green, while 23 were beating the NBI and 19 were beating the SPSIBI.
The 167 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 18.34% but still a median YTD loss of now -1.03%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a safe and relaxing first November weekend biotechies!
(And remember to Fall behind!)
Peace & good health,
Bulba
