When I compare Republicans and Democrats I expect it is a given I am speaking in general terms, not absolutes.

I have studied the history of the Republican party. For one hundred years they have "generally" been on the wrong side of history as regards social programs and helping the society in general and the poor in particular.

Worse, time and again they have been engaged in policies that have really made life hard for people.

Look who they have given us for presidents the last 50 years and look at how much damage they have done to our society and how much they have hurt people.

Nixon waylaid the Vietnam peace talks just to get elected and tens of thousands of people died because of that. His administration was rife with criminality, then we have Reagan who was no better and did everything possible to enrich the plutocrats and autocrats by stealing money from needed social programs and lowering taxes on the rich, and breaking unions. He did so much damage to our society. Reagan also put taxes on social security which really hurts the poor.

And I don't think I need to go over the evils of Bush jr and Trump.

And all during this time, the Republicans and conservatives gave us criminal leaders in congress like Tom the Hammer Delay, Phil Graham, Moscow Mitch and Fritz, Boner, etc. And the conservatives who did their own damage to our society. E.g. their opposition to the 1964 civil rights act.

The primary reason we are at the bottom of western democracies with regard to everything important really like the health and welfare of our people is soley because of the Republican party.

One has to think of the Republican party as a political force, not individuals as both parties vote along party lines, more or less and so if one is a Republican, they are part of the problem as they are helping that party to do terrible things.

There are instances in history where one can generalize to the policies of a political party being generally terrible e.g. George Wallace's American Independent party or the Nazi party.

IMO, the Republican party the last 50 years has been a terrible party, an evil wind that blew no good.
