anyone know the reason for the sudden surge in the price of bullion at the moment. Spot gold at $298.

Happy t'illuminate U, Jaakko; thx 4 Ur reply. YES, I recover thin plating: just takes more pcs to get t'same amount of recovered gold than in the old "thicker plating" days.

The "how to" remove it & convert it to hard gold buttons is why I wrote the book, Thrift Store Prospecting worldaccessnet.com
There are economical ways to recover it and expensive ways...of course I use the cheap way since I'm only out the cost of $20 per T/oz
There are actual pictures of some of my recovered gold buttons on Goldsheet's banner ad--under Prospecting section...go see:
goldsheet.simplenet.com

Why use thicker plating than needed? For durability & eye appeal.
Compare the paint job on a new Ford/Chrysler/GM and A 12 coat Mercedes
Or:
look at the cheapie watch on your secretary's wrist, next to your ROLEX... You'll see the difference in eye appeal immediately!

BTW...most folks don't know how to TEST for whether an item is plated or solid...
a reliableGold Chemical Test Kit
worldaccessnet.com
handily solves that problem, in the "safety and privacy of your own home..." (sounds like a pregnacy test jingle...teehee)

As the world shifts more and more to using gold as currency, such a test is an absolute must, eh?
