Yes, they are individuals, just like people. When I had my shepherd, Jim, I used to have coffee on Sunday morning and read the newspaper, yes, the actual paper. He would tolerate that screen I held up between us for only so long, then would snatch the paper from my hands and tear it to shreds. It was time to go to the park! Sometimes he would just go to the front door, sit down, and stare intently at the door handle. An excellent non verbal communicator. I heard about that shepherd you posted the story about, yesterday on the car radio. Heartbreaking. Poor dog.
