John,

Thanks. The mood of this thread has been pretty bad lately, and I thought I'd try to lighten things up a little. (I'll try to sprinkle a little information in with the humor. <g>)

I'll see if I can get a copy of Byte. I haven't read that magazine for a long time, but they used to be VERY technical.

Craig

John,

<<Check out Byte this month, alot of FC for a magazine aimed at the non-technical mainstream.>>

I bought the January, 1998 issue of Byte over the weekend, and found that Fibre Channel was listed as one of "Next Year's Top 25 Technologies". (Page 72, article titled "Serving Up Storage".)

There was one quote that I found interesting.

"Fibre Channel networks will come to resemble Gigabit Ethernet networks, employing hubs and switches as the core of server farms."

Also mentioned are Microsoft's Server Cluster and Novell's Orion (Wolf Mountain.)

After reading this and other articles, it strikes me that we have focused so much on disk storage for 1998 that we have been ignoring servers, enterprise servers, and tape storage companies. We might have to broaden our coverage.

Craig

P.S. Byte has shrunk since the last time I read it. <g>
