I think that it was planned for a long time, however it was not allowed according to Canadian Laws to do bank mergers. Just recently, it was OKeyed and now you see the results.

I wonder whould be next

Jimsy, the intention for banks to merge has been there for a long time. If this merger gets approved, this new financial inst. will be one of the top 10 in NA, and 25th in the world. Easier to compete on an international basis.
