James, the issue is much larger than if he lied about it, Presidents lie all the time and get away with it. The big problem is that she was a government employee and he was her boss, that is serious. Not in the same category as fooling around with some movie star. If true, he has crossed the line from bad morals to an illegal act. If true, I would vote to impeach even though I am a Democrat and a Clinton supporter. It is that serious. (But we don't know yet if true)

James, I know your comments were not directed at me in particular, but I will respond anyway. Yes, perjury and/or obstruction of justice is significant. You are also partly correct that the point is not adultery (BTW, isn't it still illegal in some states?). But the point is character; adultery (if true) reflects on character; and both actually matter to many Americans. Expecting our leaders to be of good character can hardly be compared to making women wear robes covering all skin from head to toe or executing aldulterers.

As for how it can effect the markets or the economy, both benefit from a positive national mood and strong leadership strengthens the mood. Also, while distracting congress and the White House from doing damage domestically may be a good thing, distracting them from the very real problems in the global economy is not. The world, like it or not, is looking to America for leadership, and a crisis of leadership here helps no one. Wax wax wax ...

BTW, I didn't vote for Clinton and the last thing the GOP needs is for Newt to run for Pres (I live in his district BTW). I too object to many things the "Right" would like to do, but I also object to the "Left" screaming "imposing your morals" and "go live in Iran" when their beloved leader's character is in question. Come to think of it, you sound an awful lot like the screams from the right of "America, love it or leave it" during Vietman and Watergate.
