I have been frankly amazed at the country's resilience so far... but this is what I think is happening in answer to a query on another board wet loonie's direction..

I have actually been surprised at its strength.. Seems we are no longer a petro economy.. But an immigration economy.. Housing remains strong.. Rates.. Can't see them anywhere near when I first bought lol.. 12.5 % mortgage all those years ago.. Will remain low ... Seems to support the loonie

And if Trans Mountain goes through better.. Although minority position makes that tenuous once more..

Oh one more housing comment.. It's not only about super rich buyers.. Lots of regular folks type immigrant ranks swelling demand across the board..

Of course a ponzi scheme of its own.. So more years of deficits propped by housing.. Until unsustainable

Really quite sad what Justin is doing to our country.

More than people think that. Encana a stalwart of the Canadian economy has just left the room. Moving to the US where the attitude toward business is far more friendly under Trump. Canadian Taxes and over regulation finally drove them out. Lumber companies on the same plane. All investment dollars are now going south.

Heard a comment by a liberal strategist on TV. Said A Sheer lost because hoe went after votes in Western Canada. An area that it really dos not count in Federal Elections. Reminded me of former liberal minister Sheila Cop. Speaking after the Meech Lake accord failed to pass. She said " Canadians" wanted it to pass, but the people out west Killed it. Both demonstrate the general Liberal attitude. If your not from either Ontario or Quebec. Your not really Canadian.

So why not separate ? The West has the majority of resource wealth. And not every one in the western provinces relish remaining servants and slaves.
