Actually, I worked on the DMS-10, the 100 was still in development. I love your analysis of Doesn't Make Sense! I couldn't agree more! I don't even remember the load #! The difference between DMS-100 code (Northern) and 5Exx (Western Electric) is immense. When you really feel like something to do, try supporting both of those, and throw in the GTD-5 (Automatic Electric) switch. All deliver dial tone, and receive digits, and route calls, but from there on out, everything is different! Just try an 'Emergency Recovery' on each, like during a massive outage! You haven't lived! All the time the management is saying, I sent you to school, what's taking so long, have you notified everybody within 20 minutes of the outage, are you calling them all every 15 minutes to inform them of your progress, answer that call from an adjoining telephone company calling you to tell you are 'down' - I have been there, done that, got the shirt, hat and still get monday morning quarterbacked! Where were they when I was battling aligators and I thought I was only supposed to drain the swamp! I have a feeling you have seen your share of 'nightlife'!

As for support, that was PART of my job! The problem with the loss of comments was caused both by the crunch of the next system, and the loss of good programmers through force reduction and retirement. I couldn't stand it anymore (Blood Pressure) and bailed out in 1993 at age 51! (By the time the comments disappeared, they had not been updated since the early code, and were only taking up space, not necessarily indicating what the code actually did!)

You sure have done a bunch to be only 14!
