Yes, I spent several hours studying all of that and listening to the 2012 Vice video that ran during Romney's run for office. Weird for sure. It was a little painful watching Ervil's closest relatives describe how he slid into crazed thinking like 'God has revealed to me that my powers are equal to God's'. That became the justification for the OT concept of blood atonement and that caused the two groups to split apart. As Ervil lost followers he appears to have slid into a completely psychotic break. I was also surprised to learn that those communities don't appear to practice polygamy anymore. Through the years I've been to two polygamous family gatherings. One was the gathering of the patriarch's Canadian family with the SLC family. The Canadian group drove straight down with trucks filled with fresh-caught salmon. Enormous things that were then smoked on a brigade of smokers. It was my first experience with that delicacy and I ate myself sick. There are a few polygamists in my genealogy and I'm grateful there are so few. I have friends whose polygamist ancestors created a genealogical labyrinth to untangle, lol.
