If Apple did that, they'd essentially be giving up 10% of their revenues.

Apple's total revenues were $64 billion last quarter alone.

They already tried licensing the Mac OS to other hardware manufacturers before the return of Steve Jobs. It nearly killed the company because their hardware sales were being decimated by cloners and Apple wasn't getting enough money on licensing to make up the difference.

They won't return to that mistake.
