Germany has a Baby-Boom bulge still to retire, but compare their demographics today with their shattered demographics in 1950.

Society adapts, and societies that can pay well don't notice as much that they're adapting. Germany is ahead of the US in mechanizing and automating many jobs because of what is effectively a $19 an hour minimum wage. It doesn't exist in law, but in union contracts - and almost everyone of these jobs is union.

In the 1960s Helmut Kohl used Turks and today Angela Merkel uses Mechanical Turks.

While the AfD is obsessed with the small number of immigrants moving to Germany . . . . ,

no one seems to have notice the huge problem of German emigration, roughly 250,000 Germans each year permanently moving to other countries!
