I'm gonna try to get off this topic, but I really feel the need to drive home the point that in an investigation, the investigator doesn't just investigate the crimes or the people he or she wants to suspect.

I don't disagree with that.

But that is precisely what Schiff is doing.

I don't want to dwell on this topic, either, but for heaven's sake won't you recognize that Schiff can't interview people being withheld by Trump.

Where the spouse is arrested for murder without checking out other credible alternatives.

That isn't a parallel. This case is not a whodunit. This is not like investigating a crime and looking for the perp. We're not looking for someone else having done it. If Trump didn't do the "it" in whodunit, then the whole matter is irrelevant from the perspective of impeachment and outside the House's area of concern. For your example to be parallel, you've have to be looking for the spouse victim being something other than dead or the dead person being someone other than the spouse.

"I really feel the need to drive home the point that in an investigation, the investigator doesn't just investigate the crimes or the people he or she wants to suspect. And in fact, the worst investigations are those where alternatives aren't investigated. Where the spouse is arrested for murder without checking out other credible alternatives. You don't do that."

This investigation began with the suspect voluntarily giving all of us a phone transcript, which turns out to be the slow motion video of a bullet leaving the barrel of a gun before we even see smoke. The alternatives are pretty much down to "that's not a gun", "that's not a bullet", and "where's the smoke?".

>>Every person who has knowledge needs to testify.<<

Then, why is TRUMP forbidding to let them?
