Politics (democracy) and social science are the very foundation of our modern humanitarian society. Taxes are the cost of civilization. You don't even seem to understand the basics of what makes for a good society. What evidence is there that YOU understand the basics of what makes for a good society of 300-400 million people? Can you point to a successful one that is based on your principles?

Politics is killing democracy, and the social non-sciences have given us the Laffer Curve and the tools to sell the it to the public. "Before we had the modern social safety net, life was hell for people and mostly old females who too often lived in abject poverty". The Torah has laws about how to care for old females in poverty, and they was prolly stolen from somebody, Social scientists weren't involved. Cheap and abundant energy powering American industry had more to do with raising living standards than anything else.
