He can do that during the Senate trial. Do you have somebody who will swear that Trump was sick that day, and the phone call was the work of a stunt double? Maybe the transcript is a Democratic forgery? That Trump told Sondland, "No squid show, bro", and not "No quid pro quo"?

Paint it as a Grand Jury where the accused has no rights at all.

Trump has as many rights as anyone else before a Grand Jury. You seem to think he should have more. Why?

When was the last time a president was "investigated" for impeachment by committee claiming it was operating like a Grand Jury?

Every time the DOJ refused to do its job by doing its own investigation or appointing a special prosecutor or counsel.
