E*Trade has the same restriction. Now I just realized that Datek has a limitation which is somewhat annoying. I can't (as far as I know) both be long and short in a stock. First of all, they don't distinguish between selling and selling short. So if I have 100 shares and sell 200 shares, I've just sold my 100 and shorted another 100. This prevents me from hedging by buying and shorting the same stock. Now I see why Datek is designed for daytraders - all the trading options aren't there (I also can't specify which lot to sell).
