Just saw your latest post.

Personally I wouldn’t worry about Mika not eating enough. Keep free feeding her. She will decide how much food she needs.

I too have a unique eater on my hands right now. Bella rarely eats in the morning, often doesn’t even eat any quantities to speak of during the day but makes up for it after we finish dinner. I have similar eating habits and thus can’t argue with her :-)

>>> She seems to like purina (or some similar brand) chicken food<<<

My dog has severe allergies, both environmental and food related, and I used to feed him Blue Buffalo which was recommended by his foster care givers (he was almost totally bald when he went into their care). Then a study came out about heart disease being caused by certain dog foods. Blue Buffalo was high on the list. Having had a dog with heart issues that eventually killed her, I immediately stopped feeding Harvey Blue Buffalo because whether the study is right or wrong I wasn't going to take a chance.

Turns out that Purina has better ingredients than Blue Buffalo, no matter what their commercials say. Yes, I took a label from Blue Buffalo and wandered around a pet store comparing ingredients.

Even though it's also grain-free, I landed on Purina Beyond. His favorite is the beef & egg for dry food and for canned I get the variety 6 pack which has 2 fish, 2 chicken and 2 beef. He's eating much better now than he did with the Blue Buffalo. I found that ordering from Chewy.com was the cheapest way to go.

Actually, prior to Harvey all my pets including cats were fed Purina so I was glad to get back to it.

Here's one article about the heart disease. There was an article that had a graph but I couldn't find it.

I've noticed your spelling of your new dog has changed from Meeka to Mika. Which do you prefer?

My old girl's name was Neeka and I'll name any new female dog I get the same.
