For me it's groundhogs and rabbits for leafy stuff and young plants.. I need to catch and release where I am :(

for the root crops no gophers but lots of voles :( had a huge beat planting that looked awesome on top but the roots were all crescent moons :(

re rabbits yes I have hazelnuts growing as an experiment with root inoculated with truffle spore.. so I protect them for winter.. picked up a lot of tricks working at an arboretum as a summer job when I went back to school after retirement :) .. Japanese beetles like them almost as much as roses and raspberries :(
