I said it as a joke, but I beieve it. The children I know who have mothers at home are on average much better behaved than those who don't. I think women are the bearers of culture and social customs and when we give up the domestic sphere, there is no one else to take it up. Hired help don't have the same investment in the domestic tranquility of a family as do the actual family members.
