I think Xi thought his threat of sending in storm troopers would make Hong Kong voters fall in line with the views of the Jay Chen quislings. But Xi and the Chinese Politburo have no experience with democratic systems, other than sham elections where they have chosen all of the candidates. *I have no idea if the Chinese Communist Party will be resolute and eventually* turn Hong Kong into a Tienanmen Square or similar great leap forward with millions of casualties. They say they're going to be resolute, but that story hasn't been written yet. The past history of communist dictatorships does not auger well. I suspect Hong Kong's election is just the another shot in a very long war the Chinese communist party is waging against the residents of Hong Kong. Key traitorous residents still remain embedded with the other boys. China's Deep State leadership "can't allow Hong Kong attitudes to infect China". What does or does not happen to Hong Kong will almost certainly be determined by the way China's Deep State deals with this larger issue**.
