re. laziness. LOL. In my freshman high school algebra class I noticed a shortcut in a solution to a problem the teacher (a nun) had put on the board. After I gave my suggestion, she nodded and said, You're lazy, that's a sign of a good mathematician. I said thanks and sat down.

Then I raised my hand, being a bit puzzled. I stood up and said "Was that a compliment or an insult?" The class got a pretty big kick out of that.
