I have Careington, but it's a discount plan and not insurance.

Main problem is finding providers that will accept it.

Before I retired I always signed up for dental insurance at my employer's group rate.

I have not found dental insurance to be worth the cost but that's a personal choice.

IMO, that's true in 99% of situations, including the Senior policies from AARP and Delta. The premiums add up to more than the paid benefits AFTER deductibles, reduced payments schedules (U&C), denied claims, etc.

For problem prone people or cavity prone children insurance could be a huge help.

I get dental insurance (Cigna) through my company . . . .
I pay about $30 per month for the whole family of 6.
It pays for itself with all of the free cleanings for everyone.
It also cuts my orthodontist bill in half .. each of my 4 kids need braces!
So .. it is well worth it for me ... with a large, young family.
BUT, probably not worth it if you have to buy it on your own at full price just for you and wife.
Have a Blessed Day all !!!
