Thursday, December 05, 2019 Highlights of the News Donald John Trump is still the leader of the free world. Justin Bieber is not. ITEM 1: Julia Ioffe reported , "Trump Is Waging War on America’s Diplomats. And the impeachment inquiry is only making things worse. With new figures and fresh horror stories, Julia Ioffe reports on how the president is politicizing our embassies, alienating our allies, and decimating the ranks of the foreign service." Considering the decades of failure by the diplomatic corps, this is a positive outcome of the impeachment inquisition. Ambassadorships are highly coveted. Donors give presidential candidates hundreds of thousands of dollars to presidential candidates in the hope of landing a nice ambassadorship. The unpopular places go to Civil Service-protected lifers. To be sure, some have died in service to the country. As have presidents. As have soldiers. President Trump is results oriented. Buh-bye unaccountable bureaucrats. ITEM 2: A reader said break out the Trumpenfreude for Dolphins quarterback Josh Rosen, a first-round draft pick in 2018, who was benched after going 0-3 as a starter. Miami has since gone 3-4 without Rosen. Miami got him cheap after he went 3-10 for Arizona last year, giving him a 3-13 record in 2 seasons. In college, Rosen wore an F*** Trump hat. As a Browns fan, who I am the last to mock a quarterback? But non-Browns fans may. Then there is Justin "Two Face" Trudeau. He mocked President Trump during the NATO summit. Now Trudeau is stuck in London. The Canadian Press reported , "Trudeau's plane damaged, now backup plane grounded in London, U.K." He could have hitched a ride home on Air Force One but he showed all the diplomatic grace of a hedgehog at the meeting. ITEM 3: When Republicans impeached Clinton, Hollywood dismissed it as just sex and everyone lies about sex. 21 years later, Rose McGowan and others in Hollywood want to hold him accountable. ITEM 4: The New York Daily News reported , "George Zimmerman, acquitted of killing unarmed black teen Trayvon Martin in 2012, is now suing Martin’s family and others for more than $100 million. "The former neighborhood watch volunteer said he was defending himself when he shot the 17-year-old, who was visiting his father in the gated community where Zimmerman lived in Sanford, Florida. "The suit — which will be filed in Polk County Wednesday, his attorneys told the South Florida Sun Sentinel — alleges that the only reason Zimmerman was tried was due to the testimony of a fake witness." He was wronged, but I don't see how the parents fit into this. ITEM 5: UPI reported , "While a solid majority of Americans still hold negative views of the U.S. healthcare system, the size of that share has fallen to its lowest point in a quarter-century, new research shows. "Pollster Gallup said its survey that measures attitudes about U.S. healthcare shows 63% of respondents believe the system is either having major problems (49%) or is in a state of crisis (14%). "With the exception of a single poll conducted shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Monday's survey represents the lowest level of negativity about the U.S. healthcare system since Gallup began examining the subject in 1994." Glenn Reynolds credited President Trump . I agree. It that slimeball John McCain kept his word and voted to repeal Obamacare, concerns would be even smaller. ITEM 6: The people continue to rise against the Establishment Conservatives.
