Rocky, thanks for the response... You are a very astute observer of the front edge to the tech envelope as it progresses forward. I like to think of it as a "wave" that is always moving, just like a surfer who sits out at Sunset beach waiting for a big one to come along... I think that IOM is riding one right now and who knows just how long the ride will last, but it could be for a good long time, esp. regarding the Zip and its market recognition, as many have said "zip" has come into very common usage in referring to "removable storage" media. I tend to agree that the Buz was just a "fluff" product that was thought not to cost too much to develop, but one that would help sell more Zip disks in the end. What, IOM may not have bargained for was that this is not their market... not their wave. Other computer companies have gotten caught in getting into a line of products that were outside their expertise, this could be why there has been such a delay in the release of the Buz cart...

I still have faith in KE and his marketing skills. Yes the split was not too swift, but then hind sight is always 20/20... You have mentioned several times that it was America not Asia that was the problem, but we cannot discount the widespread effects caused the deep and troubled waters in the Far East. Many acts to be played out in that one over the next year or two. There is no such thing as "the one thing that caused it all", it always comes down to a bigger picture and one that has to include product release delays, problems in Malaysia where they have their huge factory lines, morale problems in the workforce there (one can only imagine what it must be like to see your entire economy go down the drain), and not to mention the problems and insecurity caused by the Nomai issue and legal costs of defending their intellectual turf... so the list goes on, and all have their additive effects. Clik! may work out nicely (or not), but we probably won't see any effects to the bottom line until the 4th Q this year. There will be big splash events such as Comdex and more press releases along the way, so we shall see some nice moves upward as well. I think you assessment that IOM is now providing a real buying opportunity even if you may not like the company... you will make money buying today and selling at a nice % profit later this year... Well, I have rambled on enough for now.... Just a thought, did you notice that just after Bob Skinner disappeard from the thread last year, the good Dr. IOMEGA showed up! And the next thing you know, Dr. IOMEGA disappears again, just as Bob Skinner reapprears... Bring in the X-files theme... There may be aliens about!!!@ Mel
