Netscapes strategy has to be more *grass roots, more guerilla style* to succeed against msft.Barksdales *corporate style-tassled loafer look* is the wrong pose for the leader of this company.Let the young people ,the technical and marketing innovators run the enterprise more like the popular upstart, peoples software company Netscape was before Barksdale started mugging for the cameras and meddling with the concept.""It's a strategy that has been in use for "freeware"
products such as the Apache Internet server or Linux,
but so far not by a major developer.""This is the right way to go.And begins the process of regaining *consumer heart and minds*, which Barksdale still insists is a secondary target by implication. This is also a way to *compete* with msft in the consumer area , finally--the free high ground.

As fot this fact: Microsoft executives
said after the settlement announcement that they don't know of any OEM which
has asked for Windows 95 without IE. Let's give this a few days. What does anyone think they are going to immediately mess up the party.Give it time and cracks will develop in the wall.
