Our neighbors foster for an organization that brings dogs in from Taiwan and South Korea. I have mentioned that we have enough unwanted dogs right in in the U.S. and should be concentrating on them instead of bringing dogs in from over seas. The excuse is they'd be eaten if they weren't rescued. I was told the owner of the org sends people over who literally steal the dogs from markets that are set up to butcher them for meat.

From what I understand this line of work is very profitable. I know the owner is filthy rich and charges up words of $2500. a dog depending on the breed. One of the breeds they bring over is called the "Taiwan Mountain Dog."
