Prior to 9/11 you would be correct. Now "probable cause" is the foundation for a search. And "probable cause" is interpreted in a very loose fashion. I once had my car searched in NYC for questioning a police officer giving me a ticket for supposedly running through a stop sign. Moreover, Trump was forced to pay 2M for his foundation misusing funds. Bottom line: There is more than enough evidence here for NY to search and examine Trump's tax returns. Welcome to the Fascist State.
