Kevin,

Re: "I have a question. If AMD is a technology leader, why are their yields so bad? If they do have superior technology ..."

The answer to this is that to really compete with Intel on the high-end
of the PC business ... AMD had to take bigger risks and try to develop
unit processes (like local Interconnect and now Copper Interconnect) that
would give them a distinct advantage. It turns out that AMD was not able
to implement these at high yields ... so their gamble to date has not
paid off.

Actually, Intel has better manufacturing and faster FET's/devices than
AMD ... this turns out to be a better strategic advantage than developing
complex unit processes for smaller die size!!

NSM/Cyrix could fill a niche role as a low price system-on-a-chip for
first time buyers ... as far as competing on the high-end (PII @ 333mhz),
I don't give them any chance.

Make It So,
Yousef
