Caxton, I take it from your post that you are still conducting guerilla raids on the Ericy thread. Would appreciate it you would take a few minutes and summarize the current state of the flat world folks. Honest to God, what are they thinking? I know it will be impossible but try to objectively describe their reasoning. Seriously. I mean the LU folks are playing the game superbly and will happily supply ammo to both the TDMA and CDMA camps while waiting for the ultimate victor to emerge. In that sense I suppose I have hedged my own bet via my LU holding. But even if I were a TDMA fruitcake, I'd like to think I'd be rational enough to at least say: jeez, those pesky little qualcomm critters don't seem to be going away and Ericy is on record as saying they are willing to go down with the ship: "If our customers request CDMA, we won't give it to them" quote Lars Herring or whomever. But even the mighty Q won't do that, thus the Vodaphone overlay trials. I just do not see any wisdom in a doctrinaire approach to business, much less a religous war. The Ericy folks have made a bet the company decision which at this point is patently wrong, i.e., dangerous to their very survival. Little guys have to make bet the company decisions ten times a year, but Ericy is, what, $16 billion in sales? There is a dividing line between dumb and irresponsible but the Nordic guys must be O.D.'ing on sushi cause they seem to want to capture both prizes. Beats the hell out of me. On another note, I would like to express my extreme jealousy and not a small amount of disappointment that nobody is begging me to comment on damn near anything a la Ramsey-san. The fact that I am patently unqualified to opine on any topic of relevance should not be used as a rationale. We're talking ego here, so let it fly. Please avoid anything technical, telecom, economic, etc. Mike Doyle
