If Trump actually were placed under oath he would commit a whole bunch of crimes. Hence his great resistance, facilitated by Mitch, to not go there.

It was a serious crime. But it is where the "political" aspect that has confused so many here comes into play: Politically, a serious crime could be mitigated for political reasons, which is what occurred. Politically, there was no agreement that the crime -- although a serious crime -- was serious enough to warrant expulsion from office. There is no political incident that has ever been escalated to a crime to expel a president from office. So, your comment should read: LYING! UNDER OATH! Full stop. Legally, it didn't matter, but politically it did. Trump did not commit any crime, and you can't just escalate it to one because you're a leftist. Doesn't work that way.
