"Is America really settling for electing the lesser evil? "

If your question is would independents elect Trump over Bernie or Warren then I think the answer is a resounding yes.

Is America really settling for electing the lesser evil?

That seems to be the calculus for most Presidential elections ..

That is Soviet-style "whataboutism". They have internalized Putin that much.

>> Every time something rather indefensible gets uncovered, the pro Trump group deflects by giving examples of prior Presidential “sins”.

I honestly can't think of anything "indefensible" where that has occurred. There is a reason for it, though, when it does occur.

It is necessary to use comparisons because that is how you illustrate hypocrisy. It creates enormous problems when we have persistent illegal acts on the Left yet the Right plays by the rules. So, it is always worthwhile to point out the hypocrisy and name it as a substantial problem item.

Just as an example, Trump is often accused of authoritarian behavior -- yet there are no serious signs of any such incidents. Now, one could simply stop there and let it go, but I would usually point out that Obama, who the Left approved mightily of, exhibited a substantial authoritarian bent. And Obama was far less constrained than Trump is by congress.

So, I think it is useful to point out, when false accusations are leveled, that you were exceptionally tolerant of similar behaviors under Obama, or whoever. This is necessary avoid the appearance of "normalcy" in inappropriate behavior. Pointing out hypocrisy helps people to focus on the misbehavior. At least it helps me, I assume it does some others. I would expect those on the Left to do the same; it helps to clarify the point.

Trump is the only evil president elected in my lifetime. The 'lesser evil' was Clinton.
